FHS Spring Production

The crown jewel of this season for the Florence High School Players is in the final stages of rehearsal. The spring musical, "You’re a Good Man
Charlie Brown," based on the Charles Schultz' popular Peanuts comic strip, chronicles the events of a day in the life of Charlie Brown and his imaginative beagle, Snoopy. Performances are scheduled for Friday, May 1,st and Saturday, May 2,nd in the Florence High School Cafeteria with a curtain time of 7:30 pm. This production marks a first for the FHS Theatre program, in that it will take this show on the road, to Magma Ranch, K-8 on May 8 and 9, with curtain time at 7:00pm. Copper Cities Community Players set for Opening Day

The Spring production is in full swing and the final touches are being applied to the critically acclaimed satirical comedy "MOON OVER BUFFALO" by Ken Ludwing. The play is scheduled to open on Friday May 1st at 7:00 p.m. with performances also Copper Cities Community Players set for Opening Day scheduled for May 2nd, 8th, and 9th at the Old Court House Theater, Cobre Valley Center for the Arts in downtown Globe. SYMTP Announces Summer Workshops

Summer will be here soon! The Summer Youth Musical Theater Program at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts is gearing up for its 2009 season. SYMTP will be offering a variety of Theater Arts workshops for ages 5 through High SchooL These are a great way to add color and creativity to the vacation. All workshops are held mornings, Monday through Friday, in the Old Courthouse Theater facilities on the third floor of the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts (CVCA). MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Registration begins at the CVCA, 101 N. Broad Street in Globe, on May 11th. Some of the sessions fi ll up quickly. There are financial aid scholarships available to children for whom the tuition would be prohibitive. One week sessions run the weeks of June 1st: Masks and Movement, Adventures in Rhythm, Rockin Recorders, and June 8th - Puppets and Story and Musical Boomwhackers©. These are "hands-on" experiences where children ages 5 through 12 , (ages vary with the particular session), make all the creative choices guided by the staff of teacher/artists. The Musical Theater workshop, ages 8 through High School, is five weeks long and will be presenting Disney's "Jungle Book, Kids" in Youth Matinees, public SYMTP Announces Summer Workshops performances and nursing home concerts. All the participants appear onstage singing, acting and dancing. They also help with the scenery, props and other parts of the production. One of the most exciting parts of the program is the staff, which includes Diana Tunis, Carol Rios, Linda Gustafson, Karen Webb, Laura Belvado and Suzanne Lederman.
