SYMTP Summer Workshops in Full Swing

Summer Youth Musical Theatre GCC Cosmetology Program Program-2009 has just completed two weeks of workshops. In Masks and Puppets, the youth created their own designs and brought them to life with movement and story. Rhythm, Recorders and Boomwhackers© were experiences of instrumental music and being part of an orchestra. All the workshops culminated in Friday showings for family and friends to share what they had accomplished. The Musical Theater Workshop began on June 15th. The 40 young people will be auditioning Fri.(19th) for parts in this season's production of Disney's "Jungle Book, Kids". All 40 will be onstage singing, dancing, acting and making Jungle rhythms under the inspired guidance of Carol Rios, Diana Tunis, Paul Tunis, Laura Belvado, Linda Gustafson and Suzanne Lederman. Diana's costume and scenic design are sensational……mark your calendar. The performances are the weekends of July 10, 11 and 17 & 18. There are concerts at the nursing homes and two youth matinees on Thurs. July 9 for area children. The Matinees on the July 9 are underwritten by Gila County, thanks to Supervisor Shirley Dawson and are free to children accompanied by an adult.
