Florence High School's Career and Technical Student Organizations
It's been a busy month for Florence High School's Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO’s). The CTSO's offered through Florence are Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), SkillsUSA, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), and FFA (offered at Coolidge High School). During April, all the CTSO's participated in various competitions against other schools throughout the state of Arizona. The following is a list of the Florence High School students who placed in various events: Sarah Emore and Katie Strobel- 1st in FBLA Chapter Scrapbook. Maripaz Perez, Katelyn Ward, Daniel Ward, and Shawna Hines- 1st in FBLA Partnership with Business Project. Reggie Nichols, Sarah Emore, and Richard Northscott-3rd in FBLA Battle of the Chapters. Reggie Nichols and Sarah Emore-Top 10 highest scores in Management Decision Making Written Test. Joseph Porter 1st in HOSA Job Seeking Skills. Israel Varela, Maria Garcia & Adrianna Mariscal 1st in HOSA Community Awareness Project. Nayeli Torres, Lindsey Aragonez, & Katherine Juarez 1st in HOSA Health Education. Jose Estrada, 1st HOSA Medical Assistant Clinical. Brandie Wingate, 2nd HOSA Medical Assistant Clinical. Mya Brown, 2nd HOSA Medical Assistant Administrative. Ivy Hardy, 3rd HOSA Medical Assistant Administrative. Danielle Abbs, 4th HOSA Medical Assistant Administrative. Alex Felix and Toni Lammers, 5th-HOSA EMT. Cami Maud & Alexis Ramirez, Florence High School's Career and Technical Student Organizations 4th-Live Stock Evaluation Team at the CAC Dean Merrill Memorial Field Day. Alexis Ramirez, FFA Chapter Star Greenhand of the Year. Josh Hayworth, 1st- Extemporaneous Speaking & 4th-Fire Fighting in SkillsUSA. Seven students qualified to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference which will be held this summer in Anaheim, California. These students from Florence will represent the state of Arizona. Additionally, nine students qualifi ed to represent Arizona in the HOSA National Leadership Conference held this summer in Nashville, Tennessee. Congratulations to all the CTSO students for their hard work, and best of luck to the winners who will be attending the FBLA and HOSA National Leadership Conferences.
Fund Raiser for HolyAngels School

Students work intently to prepare crafts for the May 9 "Artfully Yours" fundraiser for Holy Angels School in Globe. Art work from local artists and students will be sold at a silent auction to benefit Holy Angels Catholic School. The "Artfully Yours" fund raiser will be a dessert social at the Old Globe Cafe in downtown Globe, from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 9. Sarah Bernstein says, "Find something special on the day before Mother's Day." Take home a birdhouse, picture or dessert plate and help support the school. All proceeds will benefi t Holy Angels School. If you have a piece of art that you would like to donate, the school would certainly put it to good use. Mr. John Yeoman rewards William Harris Polk for his hard work with a diploma from San Carlos High School. William completed his high school work at the San Carlos High School alternative school in January of this year.
Copper Rim Spring Fling
Copper Rim PTO will be holding a Spring Fling Event on Saturday, May 9th at Harbison Field, from 10AM to 1PM. We will have inflatable jumpy castles and slides, water games, fry bread, hot dogs, and prizes. Tickets are 50 cents, and events will range from 1 to 8 tickets each. All proceeds go towards booth sponsors. For more information, call 928- 402-5800.
Miami High Spring Concert
The Miami High School Music Department will present its spring concert on May 14th at 7:00p.m. in the high school auditorium. The concert is free, but donations are accepted. The evening of music will include tunes from Broadway, contemporary band literature, spirituals, and music from movies.
