In commencement exercises held Saturday, May 9, 2009, Claire Sotelo received the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. Claire graduated from Miami High School in 1995.
Bejarano Elementary School Updates
Bejarano Elementary School will be offering "Jump Start" summer school beginning on July 6. Classes will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. from Monday, July 6 through Wednesday, July 22. For the weeks of July 6 and July 13, classes will be held Monday through Thursday. For the week of July 20, classes will be held through Wednesday. Parents who receive summer school letters need to notify the school prior to June 30th if their child will be attending. Summer school permission forms need to be fi lled out and dropped off at the offi ce or brought to school on the fi rst day. If parents are unable to drop off the form prior to July 30th, they need to call the offi ce at 425-3271, #4. Parents are asked to please leave a message if no one answers. School office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. On August 4th, Bejarano Elementary School will be hosting a "Back To School Festival." During the evening, Bejarano parents are invited to visit classrooms, attend a parent workshop, eat and check out school and community resources. The Bejarano Elementary School will not be having Open House during the first student attendance morning. The Bejarano Community Organization has been working hard to complete the second phase of the landscaping project. The fence was extended to add to the playground area. Several picnic tables were also installed. This follows the planting of five trees, donated by Modern Woodmen that were planted in the spring
Registration for Students Attending Miami Jr./Sr. High
Registration for students attending Miami Jr./Sr. High will start on Tuesday, July 7th and continue through Thursday July 9th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ALL students attending Jr. High will have to register. School starts on Monday August 3,2009. Students wishing to participate in athletics at Miami Jr./Sr. High should have their physical and appropriate paperwork turned into the offi ce by or before the fi rst day of school. Please stop by the offi ce and pick up paperwork. There have been a number of changes to the dress code. These changes are available at the Miami Jr./Sr. office and we encourage all parents to make themselves aware of the changes before purchasing school clothes.
New Student Registration For Fall
Florence Unifi ed School District #1 will conduct new student registration Monday July 6, 2009 through Friday July 10 from 8am to 2pm at all schools. All students who have not attended FUSD schools in the past and plan to attend the coming school year beginning July 20, are asked to register at this time. GCC Offers Science Camp to 7th Graders
Gila Community College is offering a one-week science camp to this fall's 7th graders. The focus of the science camp will be the environmental impact of the regular things we do every day. Aaron Burk, Biology Teacher at Globe High School, is the facilitator for the camp. The camp will be July 20 – 24 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Gila Pueblo Campus and is free. Funding for the camp is through the GEAR-UP grant. The camp size is limited to 20 students and will fi ll on a first come basis. To enroll your 7th grader in the camp, come to the Gila Community College, Gila Pueblo Campus Administration Office at 8274 Six Shooter Canyon Road in Globe and fi ll out an admission form.
