Heidi Marie Kay (Witzens) passed away in her home in Globe, Arizona on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from chronic health issues. Heidi was born on April 21, 1963, in Tucson, Arizona. She moved with her family to San Diego, California in the fall of 1963, where she lived until moving to Globe in 2015. She loved hiking the mountains around Globe with her friends and dogs and enjoyed the view of the mountains from her home.
Heidi had a great love for animals. She was a frequent visitor to animal shelters, adopting many pets over the years. She was active in the senior community, attended arts & crafts and music festivals, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She studied graphic arts and was very creative.
Heidi is survived by her father, Walter Witzens, in Bocholt, Germany; sisters Wendy Stratton and Amanda Witzens in San Diego, California; nieces Carly Stratton and Miranda Stratton-Wilson in San Diego, California; her dogs, Adela and Simon; her rabbits, Granite and Chantemaya; and her cats, Asher, Thaddeus, Tedrus and Wilson. She was predeceased by her mother, Sharon Witzens.
A memorial hike to celebrate Heidi’s life is being planned and will be posted to her Facebook page. If you would like to honor her memory, please make a donation to Gila County Animal Care & Control in her name.
