Gilbert L. Williams passed away on April 26, 2011 after a long illness in San Pedro, California. Gilbert was born in Miami, Arizona on Dec. 3, 1923. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Marine Corps. He fought a hard battle and was wounded on the island of Iwa Jima.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Staphana (Fannie Trujillo) Williams, Ester Cale (Lloyd), his son, Gilbert Jr. (Georginne), three grandsons, and two great-grandchildren.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Williams and Martha Lagaspi Williams; his brothers, Henry (Hank) Williams of San Manuel/Oracle, Arizona, Tommy Williams, who was killed in Germany during World War II, and Johnny who passed away this past year in Sun City, California.
Left behind are George L. Williams (Josephine) of Globe, Arizona, Dave of San Pedro, California, and Eddie (Margaret) of Globe, Arizona.
Services will be held in San Pedro, California on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. His final resting place will be on Thursday, May 5 2011 next to his brother, Johnny, at the veterans memorial Cemetery in Riverside, California.
