Amy Suzanne Denton Benites passed through the veil to her eternal home on April 13, 2023, in San Bernardino, California.

Amy was born on Jan. 19, 1978 in Phoenix, Arizona. In Miami, Arizona, a young couple was anxiously awaiting the opportunity to become parents through adoption. On Jan. 16, 1979, just three days before Amy’s first birthday, this couple’s dream came true. Amy became the daughter of Gary and Mary (Cothrun) Denton. It was love at first sight for Gary and Mary and their sweet Amy.

Amy attended school in Miami, Flagstaff and Globe. She graduated from Globe High School in 1996. Amy was very musically talented. She played the violin, clarinet, piano and bassoon. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to entertain people singing karaoke. Swimming was another one of Amy’s passions. She swam on the Piranhas swim team and was a lifeguard at the Globe Community Pool and the Eastern Arizona College swimming pool in Thatcher. Amy was also active in 4-H, raising two lambs.

Amy loved people and made friends easily. She was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever it was needed.

In her adult life, Amy had health challenges which she always faced with a positive outlook.

Amy was preceded in death by her infant son Bucky Lee, father Gary Lee Denton, grandparents Milt and Nadine Cothrun, Betty and Tom Cook, and Aubrey Denton. Amy is survived by her mother Mary Denton. She is also survived by her aunt Peggy (Jim) Beutler; her uncles Rick Denton, Bill (Janice) Cook, Mike Cothrun, Keith (Andrew) Cothrun and Randy (Christie) Cothrun; her biological sister, Sarah Gutierrez-Zohaib; and numerous cousins and friends.

Go rest high on that mountain, Amy. Your struggles on earth are done.

There will be a graveside service on June 3, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Globe Cemetery, where Amy will be laid to rest with her Daddy.

Family is being assisted by Bulman Miles Funeral Services Globe.
