Copper Country News has new editor

The Copper Country News would like to introduce Rick Wright as their new editor. Wright recently was the editor at the Helena-West Helena World in Helena, Arkansas.

“I am excited to be in Globe, Ariz. and to be the editor at the Arizona Silver Belt and the Copper Country,” says Wright. “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to write about the people, places, events and rich history of this area.”

Wright has several years experience in the newspaper business from the days of hammering out stories on an Underwood typewriter, spending hours in the photo darkroom developing film, to the early computers with eight inch screens to today’s newspaper technology. He has worked as a sports writer/photographer, sports editor; news reporter/photographer; and has been the managing editor at multiple newspapers in Arkansas as well as in Mesquite, Texas over the last 41 years, covering thousands of sporting events, festivals, court cases and much more.

“I’ve had the honor of interviewing governors and other state level officials, city officials, law enforcement officers at state and local levels to fire department personal to bring the community current events and to inform the citizens of what’s happening in their local goverments and communities,” said Wright. “I also enjoy writing feature stories, highlighting local personalities and featuring businesses.

Rick and his wife Mitzi have 10 grown children and 17 grandchildren. Wright has been a Church of God, and non-demominational minister for 43 years. He also was a professional bull rider, finishing sixth in the world on two occasions, and was the 1977 PRCA Bull Riding Rookie of the Year. Wright is also a portrait painting artist.
