Frances Carmen Nawfel

Frances Carmen Nawfel of Globe, Az. passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021. She was born Oct. 26, 1931. Frances was a graduate of Globe High School in 1950. In 1971, her father Tony Daou passed away and she began working at Daou’s Market as a supervisor and all-purpose clerk until the store closed in 1977. Many years later she worked at Globe High School in the bookstore and Xerox office. Frances married Tony Nawfel, a local businessman who at one time was the Constable of Globe. Frances was a beautiful Catholic woman who had many talents including making jewelry and painting ceramics. She loved Christmas, which you could clearly see throughout her home, along with any item in purple, her favorite color. Our dearest Frances, we say goodbye for now and hold you in our hearts forever.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Tony and Mary Daou, brothers Tony Daou and Nelson Daou, and husband Tony Nawfel.

She is survived by her “Sisty Poo” Yvonne and husband Mondo Rodriguez; children Edward DeLaPaz, Tony and wife Beatrice DeLaPaz, Cynthia (DeLaPaz) Laybourne, and Greg and wife Diedra DeLaPaz; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 at 9 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Globe, Az., followed by a 9:30 Rosary at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment followed at Globe Cemetery in Globe, Az.
