Many people that have visited the jail have witnessed strange things that can’t be explained. Loud bangs and eerie footsteps are often heard when only one person is alone in the building. Eerie shadowy figures have also been witnessed throughout the building. The Gila County Jail was open from 1910 until 1981. An inmate that was awaiting trial was assassinated in the jail. He supposedly haunts his old cell. Shadow figures are commonly seen throughout the building. Many EVPs have been recorded at the location.
