Creative volunteers with the Miami Arts Commission invite Globe-Miami fans of gourd art to join a roadtrip next month to Casa Grande to check out the 17th Annual Gourd Festival. The event is Feb. 8, read specific details posted at wuertzfarm.com. Locally, a merry cadre of carpoolers will meetup at Miami Art Works downtown on that Saturday morning to coordinate a scenic drive punctuated by lively conversation about gourds, art - and life in general.

“Be prepared to see some incredible gourd art,” said Larry Brown. “The exhibit hall will be filled to capacity with craft supply vendors and professional gourd artists. An exceptional gourd art show and contest highlights the days activities, you can vote for your favorite gourd art project. This a great activity for people interested in all sorts of crafting.”

Wuertz Farm has gourds for purchase at the event, which also features live music and food vendors.

“If you think a gourd art festival sounds lame, trust me, you will not be disappointed that you attended. On my first visit, I was blown away by the fantastic art made from gourds!” said Larry Brown. To inquire about carpooling, or offer to drive, call him at 928-701-1036 or email mhs_art@yahoo.com
