Drivers passing through Salt River Canyon on highway 60 may experience delays while the Arizona Department of Transportation completes maintenance work over the next few weeks. Highway 60 remains open, but drivers should plan ahead in case stop-and-go traffic delays their travel while lanes in both directions are closed intermittently. Maintenance work is occurring on east- and westbound US 60 between mileposts 293 and 298 (east of the Salt River bridge).
Crews are scheduled to work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through Thursday, Aug.1.
All motorists should be prepared to stop and expect brief delays. ADOT urges drivers to slow down and use caution around maintenance personnel and equipment. Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
For real-time highway conditions across the Grand Canyon State, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site az511.gov, follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT), connect on Facebook -- or call 511, except while driving -- of course!
