Spurgeon selected for Termaine Dance Company

Posted

Power Elite Dance Academy student Anisa Spurgeon has been selected to be a member of the Senior Performance Team with the award-winning

Tremaine Dance Conventions. Founded in 1981 by internationally known choreographer and teacher Joe Tremaine and nationally known dance educator and business consultant Julie Adler, this Los Angeles-based dance company is professional dance education at its best. With a staff of working professional choreographers and teachers, Tremaine Dance Conventions and Competitions conducts classes for teachers, assistant teachers, senior, teen and junior dancers from around the world. The latest in dance techniques are presented during each exciting convention.

Anisa will accompany the Tremaine staff to various cities across the country during the 2021-2022 tour season and will have the opportunity to

not only perform with the other members of the Teen and Senior Tremaine Performance Team throughout the season, but she will also serve as an assistant to the teachers during the convention.

Tremaine offers classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, fusion jazz, musical theatre, tap and hip hop, presented in a positive learning atmosphere. This is a great chance for young dancers to work with professionals who currently work in all areas of the industry including Broadway productions, television, film, commercial advertisements, and live shows and music videos with artists such as Lady Gaga and Beyonce.

Anisa began her audition process for this position at Tremaine National Dance Event in July in Las Vegas. She received word several weeks later that she had made it through the first round of cuts and was asked to move into the second step of the audition process by submitting a one-minute video of herself dancing in her best style with just a few days to prepare. Anisa’s teachers and the Power Elite  Dance Academy staff rallied

around her to boost her confidence and help her film her solo performance in the style of jazz -a personal favorite of hers. Then, one last time, Anisa waited in hopes that her hard work would pay off. And it did; she received her acceptance letter on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021.

This is a prestigious role with an exceptional company and Anisa is humbled beyond words to be able to represent the Gila Valley and Power Elite Dance Academy during her year with Tremaine Senior Performance.
