Francis (Gene) headed for the last round up on January 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
Francis was born September 29, 1944 in Globe, Az., to Francis and Gail Knuckey. Francis was raised in Globe, Az where he attended schools and graduated from Globe High School class of 1962 after which he attended EAC College in Thatcher, Az. Francis worked for ADOT until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965.
While in the Navy, Francis met Lana Glass of California. The couple married in 1969 and remained happily married for 53 years, until Lana’s death in 2022.
After his service in the Navy, Francis and Lana moved to Phoenix where he was employed by the city of Phoenix until his retirement.
Francis enjoyed doing leather work, making cedar walking sticks, square dancing, playing pinochle, reading, doing puzzles and spending time at the family's "Circle Ranch" near Young, Az.
Francis is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Knuckey (Shad Page) Phoenix, and son Kevin Knuckey. Sister Ann Garlinghouse of Globe and brother Mike Knuckey (Katheleen) of Pearland Texas. He had several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Gail and Francis Knuckey. Maternal grandparents, Guy and Jennie McGowen and paternal grandparents Frank and Annie Knuckey.
A memorial celebration of life will take place at Hansen's Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Phoenix Az. 85020 at 12:00 PM. February 22nd, 2025. Services will also be live-streamed.
