Gary Cameron

Gary Cameron was born on Nov. 10, 1953 in Miami, Ariz. to his loving parents Clinton Ray Cameron and Jane Jewell Cameron. Gary was raised on Mill Street in a home he helped build and graduated from Miami High School in 1971.

As a teenager Gary worked at his dad’s gas station before marrying the love of his life, Connie Diane, on Dec. 22, 1971.

Gary went on to serve this great country for 12 years of active duty in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Korea, Germany, Colorado, Kentucky and Texas. Staff Sergeant Gary Cameron, tank commander, loved his tank and his men loved him. The guys used to say, “you know where you stand with Sergeant Cameron, good, bad or indifferent.”

After serving his country, Gary returned to Globe/Miami in 1987 with his family. He drove 18-wheelers for BJ Cecil’s Trucking for the next 19 years, where he was able to be home with his family almost every night.

Gary and his beautiful wife Connie were blessed to have two wonderful children, Ray and Trinity.

He enjoyed many hobbies, such as racing. He would say “It’s an awesome feeling to turn right to go left” and “Stompin’ the loud pedal of 410 Whoopass.”

Gary loved the great outdoors, including camping under the stars, fishing, hunting, plinking and, of course, grilling up some meat for all the family functions.

The one thing Gary loved most of all was his family. He will truly be missed why all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Gary was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clinton Ray and Jane Jewell Cameron and his brother Jackie Ray Cameron.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie Diane Cameron; his son Ray (Tiana Kay) Cameron and daughter Trinity Ann (Orson Lee) Branch; his brother Michael Leon (Jana) Cameron and his sister Janice Cheryl Sanders. He had one granddaughter, Amanda Jewell Branch and the Children of the Heart (Strays) Charles More, Deana Moore, Jimmy Johnson, Toni Johnson and Kristina Wilson Attaway.

Services were Monday March 11, 2019 at Bulman Miles Chapel in Miami, with viewing. Funeral Services with military honors were performed.
