Joseph ”Joe” C. Gonzales, age 84, of Globe, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at Scottsdale Osborn Hospital. Joe was born in 1940 in East Los Angeles, California, along with 2 sisters, Betty and Judy, and 4 brothers, Tudy, Frank, Tony, and Johnny. Joe moved to the Globe-Miami area after serving in the Army looking to work in the copper mines. While in Miami he met and married Ruth Trujillo in 1964. Joe worked in the copper mines as a mechanic until he retired. However, retirement did not suit him, so Joe went to work first for the Globe School District then Miami School District, where he eventually retired officially in February of 2022.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports, but especially baseball. He enjoyed attending his grandkids’ and great-grandkids’ games and gave his support while cheering them on. Joe was always available to help family and friends when their vehicles needed working on. On the weekends when Joe was younger you could always find a friend’s car in the garage being worked on. Joe enjoyed the holidays and maintained the tradition of making tamales for Christmas and menudo for New Year’s, sharing both with visitors during the holidays. Joe will be greatly missed.
Joe leaves behind in loving memory his wife Ruth of 60 years, his brother Tony Gonzales (Victoria) of Moreno Valley, CA, 2 sons, Robert “Bobby” Gonzales (Melonie) of Chandler, AZ and Gilbert “Gil” Gonzales (Lori) of Gilbert, AZ and 1 daughter, Rachel Bowyer( Brad) of Globe, AZ.
