Sons of Spanish American War Veterans to dedicate memorial at Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum

The Buckey O’Neill Camp #175, Sons of Spanish American War Veterans, are proud to announce the dedication of a new Spanish American War Memorial within the garden of the Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum, 150 N. Plaza Circle in Miami. The dedication ceremony will take place at noon on June 15, 2024.

This significant event honors the 125th anniversary of the Spanish American War in 2023, the Spanish American War veterans of Gila County, and the Woman’s Relief Corps of Arizona, thus preserving their legacy and educating future generations about their contributions to American history. The memorial, erected and paid for by the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans, stands as a testament to their courage and dedication, ensuring their sacrifices are remembered.

The ceremony will feature remarks from local dignitaries, historians, and representatives from the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans. Special guest speakers will share insights into the historical impact of the Spanish American War and its relevance to the community. The dedication will also include a ceremonial unveiling of the memorial, a first for Gila County.

The Sons of Spanish American War Veterans invite all community members, history enthusiasts, and descendants of Spanish American War veterans to join in this momentous occasion. This dedication is not only a tribute to those who served but also an opportunity to bring together the community in celebration of our shared heritage.

About the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans:

 

The Sons of Spanish American War Veterans is a patriotic, 501c3 non-profit organization of men related to Spanish-American War veterans. Founded in 1927 and chartered by the United Spanish War Veterans in 1962, the organization is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of those who served in the Spanish American War. Through educational programs, commemorations, and community outreach, we strive to honor the memory of these brave individuals and ensure their stories are remembered for generations to come.

  Locally, the Buckey O’Neill Camp was charted in 2023 and is the only Camp within the State of Arizona, and the 3rd Camp of Arizona in the organization's history.
