Barbara Jeanette Olsen went to be with the LORD on July 7, 2023. Barbara was born on Sept. 2, 1939 to Henry and Anna Lockhart. She had two siblings, Duane and Lou Lockhart, both deceased. Barbara was married on Nov. 22, 1958 to Merle Gunder Olsen. They had been married 64 years. Barbara is survived by her husband and three children, Diane Scofield (widow, David), Michael Gunder Olsen (Laura) and Brian David Olsen. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Candice Sorensen (Joe), Jusinda Olsen, Christine Benner (Brian), Cellina Camacho (Carlos), Jolee Olsen and Malaya Burns (Mike), as well as her nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Barbara worked 17 years for the Circle K Corporation. She went on to work for both Dollar General and General Dollar, and then worked 10 years at the Spring Creek Grocery Store.
Barbara was a gifted musician and used her talents to bring glory to the LORD. Barbara wrote music early in her life and played the piano, organ, keyboard and accordion. She also loved to accompany her husband singing hymns at church services. Barbara played the piano for Central Heights Baptist Church in Globe, Az. over the past several years, and played for many churches, memorials and other church events throughout the years.
Barbara raised her family with her husband in Yakima, Sunnyside and Walla Walla, Wa. The family moved to Phoenix, Az. in 1980. In 1984, Barbara and her husband moved to Globe, Az., where she resided until her passing.
Barbara loved the LORD and was a Born Again Christian. She was a devoted wife and mother. Barbara was a wonderful friend and sister in Christ. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at 2 p.m. The service will be held at Calvary Shadows Assembly of God, 815 S. Verde Ln., Globe, Az.
