Dr. Antonio M. “Tony” Sanchez left this earth peacefully, at the age of 91, on the morning of July 19, 2023. Antonio is survived by those he considered his greatest blessings; his beloved wife of 56 years, Esther (Lara) Sanchez, daughter Anissa Sternard (Michael “Mic”) and grandsons Diego and Dominic; daughter Tonia Seiler (Brian) and grandsons Gavin and Gregory; two brothers Juke and Joe, and sister Annie, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Ana Sanchez, sisters Gloria Rios and Velia Bejarano Rios, and brother Dr. George Sanchez.
Antonio grew up in Miami, Arizona and graduated from Miami High School in 1951. He attended Arizona State University as a cadet in the ROTC. Antonio then proceeded to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he received his Doctorate of Dentistry, which led him to fulfill his obligation to the Air Force in Panama. Antonio continued his military career by enlisting in the Army National Guard, where he retired as a Colonel.
Upon returning, Antonio opened his dental office in his beloved hometown of Miami, Arizona, where he thoroughly enjoyed serving his community through his dentistry for over 36 years.
Antonio was a faithful parishioner, along with his wife, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. He was also a talented musician and singer, played in bands with his brothers, loved his piano and was happiest being surrounded by family and friends. He was the Mayor of the Town of Miami, along with serving as the President of the Miami Chamber of Commerce, and a proud member of the Lions Club.
After retiring, Antonio enjoyed golfing, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, making memories with loved ones – but most of all dancing with his wife!
He was a simple man and loved life.
Antonio will be remembered with a Viewing at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami on Friday, July 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m., along by a Viewing on Saturday, July 29 from 9-9:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebration at 10 a.m. A Burial will follow the Mass at Pinal County Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Bullion Plaza Cultural Center.
